This project hosts pre-compiled binaries of the PDFium library, an open-source library for PDF manipulation and rendering.

Builds have been triggered automatically every Monday since 2017.

iOS and Mac Catalyst apps on the App Store

The App Store rejects iOS and Mac Catalyst apps that contain standalone .dylib files. The iOS device and simulator archives also contain PDFium as lib/pdfium.framework. Mac Catalyst archives contain lib/pdfium.framework.zip; extract it to get a versioned framework with its symbolic links intact.

The NuGet packages bblanchon.PDFium.iOS and bblanchon.PDFiumV8.iOS include the framework (zipped for Mac Catalyst) in runtimes/<rid>/native, so the .NET SDK automatically embeds, links, and signs it with the app's identity. Both packages require .NET 8 or later and iOS or Mac Catalyst 17.4 or later.

Static builds

Our pre-compiled versions of PDFium include only shared/dynamic libraries (.so, .dll, .dylib...), and we don't plan to add static builds in the future.

However, our repository comes with a convenience script to run a local build, and this script supports static builds through the -s flag. For example, for a Linux ARM64 build, run:

./build.sh -s linux arm64

This script reproduces the build steps used in our GitHub workflows, so it is only tested on operating systems used by GitHub-hosted runners (for example Ubuntu), and we don't plan to make this script portable.

Alternatively, you can trigger the reusable workflow build.yml with build_type=static from your own workflow, or fork this repo and start the build-one.yml manually from the Actions tab.

How to use PDFium in a CMake project

1. Unzip the downloaded package in a folder (e.g., C:\Libraries\pdfium)

2. Set the environment variable PDFium_DIR to this folder (e.g., C:\Libraries\pdfium)

3. In your CMakeLists.txt, add

    find_package(PDFium)
   

4. Then link your executable with PDFium:

    target_link_libraries(my_exe pdfium)
   

5. On Windows, make sure that pdfium.dll can be found by your executable (copy it on the same folder, or put it on the PATH).
